Looking for a way to spend his free time and be more involved in the community, Jake Ringers, 25, joined Southampton Fire Company in August 2024.

After earning his Firefighter I certification through the Bucks County Public Safety Training Center, he began riding the trucks and responding to calls in December.

“I’ve learned a lot about working with others and what it takes to be part of a team,” said Jake.

No prior experience is required before joining Southampton. The fire company provides training and gear for its volunteers. In addition to responding to calls, members also volunteer at community events like Southampton Days or visit schools during Fire Prevention Week.

“It’s been a lot of fun to engage with the community and become a bigger part of it than I previously was,” said Jake.

He says his experience has been great so far and acknowledges that there’s still a lot more to learn.

“Everyone has been very helpful when it comes to training,” he said.

When Jake isn’t volunteering, he works as an electrical engineer.
